Car parking: Nearby parking is only 2 hours. But as the site is open, painting gear is visible to others when moving the car mid-morning.

Urbrae House, Waite Campus, off Fullarton Rd., Urbrae

Car parking: Drive south 50 metres on Fullarton Rd. from Cross Rd. intersection, turn left into Walter Young Ave., drive slowly until designated car park is on the left near the house (see adjacent photo)

Toilets: The website advises, “Toilets are located in the Urrbrae House Gardens at the rear of the house for visitors to the house, gardens and Waite Arboretum.”

Toilets: Public toilets are located in the community centre building, open 8 am to 11 pm.

There are sheltered picnic areas (see photos) to protect from sun and rain

State Library forecourt, & Mortlock wing (sketching), North Terrace

Car park: Paid meter parking in Kintore Ave and Victoria Drive has a maximum of 3 hours and is in demand. Longer paid parking is available in Plane Tree Drive, Botanic Park. If only using sketching material, or minimal painting material, public transport may be an option.

Toilets: There are public toilets inside the State Library, in the glass entry foyer and on level 1 near the Treasures Wall

‘City of Adelaide’ Clipper Ship

Dock 2, Honey St., off Ocean Steamers Rd., Port Adelaide

Car park: huge car park for Dock 2

Hours: The ship area is open from 10 am to 3 pm, but closed if the forecast is 36 or over (phone number: (08) 8337 5645).

Need to stay outside the enclosed ship reconstruction area, but there is access to some areas beside the ship and adjacent toilets. Entry fee only applies to guided tours of the ship. Nearby sites offer good views of the river.

Enter via River Park, from 23 River St, St Peters

Parking: Car park in the entrance to River Park, or street parking on Ninth Avenue

Toilets: Toilets are “150m along the path leading North from the River Street car park which is opposite Tenth Avenue.”

More information ...

On walking into the park, turn right.  The path to the left is dangerous, it leads to an unfenced high vertical edge.

If your Google maps directs you to the rear track approach to the River Park car park, don’t follow it.  You need to enter the car park from River St.

Car park: Free all-day parking is available at the Hart’s Mill car park, nearby street parking may have time restrictions

Toilets: The exeloo for Hart’s Mill has been “temporarily unavailable” in past years. The nearest public toilets would be in the Port Mall (see map)

Car park: Street parking on Barr Ave and Blythewood Rd

On-site parking is available at the beach, accessible from George Robertson Drive.
Cost: Free.
Features: Includes a boat ramp, seating, and toilets.

Car park: 2 hour metered parking on Pennington Tce and War Memorial Drive for $10.60. Wilson parking at Adelaide Oval North has extended parking at high hourly rates, all day may be cheaper. Public transport may be a good alternative.
